The first Thornton Art trail is on Saturday 29th June from 11.00-5.00
It is organised by local resident artists and galleries and is sponsored by local businesses.
The trail features 33 artists in nine indoor and outdoor venues. Visitors will see some amazing art in this historic village. Many different art forms are represented, there’s the figurative paintings of Doug Binder, the skills of Birstall wood turning club, Bradford School of Art textiles plus photography, poetry, collage, printmaking, monotypes, sculpture, collage, mixed media, acrylics, illustration, murals and more.
There’s a great range of artists taking part from those at the beginning of a career in art to people who have spent their lives creating and making.
On the day there will be pop up exhibitions in houses and gardens, artist demonstrations, open studios, exhibitions at the Apothecary Gallery and South Square Centre and talks from artists. Maps of the trail are available on the South Square Centre website and paper copies can be picked up on the day from the Apothecary Gallery and South Square Centre.
The trail is free and covers a total distance of around one mile. There are excellent cafes and bars in the village, this will be an inspiring day out.
