Outlines Festival – Queer Sangheet

15 Jun 2025

17:00 - 22:00

Common Space

This event is planned by Bradford Queer South Asian Cafe in collaboration with Castles In The Sky for Outlines, Bradford's LGBTQ+ Arts Festival supported by The Leap in partnership with Arts Council England, Creative People and Places, Bradford Council and Bradford UK City of Culture 2025.

Come and celebrate with us as we create a “Queer Sangheet”. A pre-wedding ceremony that traditionally kicks off South Asian wedding celebrations. Long held in homes, as a means of bringing blessings and happiness into the familial space, we are taking this moment to imagine and create something for ourselves.

There will be joyous celebration, exuberant singing and dancing, and of course delicious food delights, for us to create and experience an evening of communal joy and celebration, as we are guided through the traditions and ceremonies of a typical Sangheet night.

We invite you to dress up to party, come with open hearts, ready and willing to create joy and celebration for our community

This event is focused on centring queer / trans people of colour but cannot run without the support and engagement of our wider community including allies. We ask everyone to be aware of their own privilege whilst navigating the space.
