Join us at Cliffe Castle Museum for a monthly musical concert on Sunday afternoons!
Taking place in the magnificent Bracewell Smith hall, each month a different community band will perform.
this months performance will be from the TransPennine Harp group.
The Transpennine Harps Group meets regularly to play the harp, share music and swap harp-related news. With around 65 members across the east of England and into the north west, we meet regularly in the West Yorkshire area, also in North Yorkshire at Old Malton. Transpennine Harps is a regional branch of the Clarsach Society, based in Edinburgh, which promotes the learning and playing of the lever harp.
Who We Are
The Transpennine Harps Group is a friendly group of harpists, with members ranging from
beginners to those with more musical experience. Our monthly programme of informal
play-togethers are led by our professional tutors, Tamsin Dearnley and Lucy Nolan.
Occasional full-day workshops are led by other leading harpists.
Our Music
Our sessions start with music for beginners/improvers and finish with a session for more experienced players. Our repertoire covers a range of styles, from Celtic to South American, and there’s always music to appeal to all tastes. Our Slow Strings sessions address more technical aspects of playing, whilst our Classical group explores the classical repertoire. As well as monthly in person meetings we offer zoom sessions, also led by our professional tutors, Tamsin Dearnley and Lucy Nolan who take us through many styles of
music with something for everyone.
