Would you like to try your hand at portraiture or life drawing but have no idea where to start? Or are you an established artist who would love to have the opportunity to do some portrait / life drawing and meet other fine artists? Perhaps somewhere in between? This might be just what you are looking for!
Keighley Creative has a great life drawing room in which Jane Fielder and Martin Cosgrove run life drawing and portrait groups on a Tuesday and Thursday.
If you would like to find out more by visiting the venue to have a chat to Jane or Martin we have an ideal opportunity for you to do so at our open day on 17 August. Just drop when it suits you from 10:00 to 15:00. We are upstairs in a large studio at Keighley Creative
COST
The open day is free.
Classes are between £10 and £15, depending on how much you feel you are able to pay. You pay on the day. Jane just takes cash but Martin takes cash or card.
TIME OF DRAWING SESSIONS
Tuesday afternoons we start drawing at 13:30 and finish at 15:30pm with a short break at about 14:45 for tea and coffee, which is included in the price. The first Tuesday of the month is dedicated to life drawing and the third Tuesday of every month is dedicated to portraiture. There is no group on other Tuesdays any more.
Thursday evenings we start 19:00 and finish at 21:00, again with a break in the middle for a well earned cuppa. The group is not meeting in the Summer but starts back Thursday 5th September.
WHAT TO BRING
You don’t need to bring anything to the open day.
If you want to come to the group sessions you will need to bring all your own drawing materials and paper. Given that this is a public space the ideal materials to bring are: pencils, charcoal, oil pastels, watercolour, acrylic or gouache paints depending on your inclination for the day. Pastels, if they create dust, and oil paint are not suitable for use in this space.
EASELS
We have recently been given four lovely new easels and eight drawing boards by Bradford Senior Power, The Leap and the Arts Council. Not everyone wants to use one and there are not enough for everyone, so we suggest you at least bring a sketch book with a solid back, just in case, rather than just loose paper.
ACCESS
Please note that the life room in Keighley Creative is up lots of steps and there is no lift so you will need a pair of legs, lungs and a heart that can carry you up the steps. Once we move to the new permanent building there will be full access.
HOW TO FIND US
Keighley Creative is currently in the old Argos Store on Cooke Lane opposite New Look and Hays Travel and between the Airedale Centre and the old Farm Foods shop.
