A morning dedicated to self-care – Slowing down, moving mindfully and connecting with nature.
In our busy lives, it is easy to feel that we must always strive to be more, do more, and have more.
This calming retreat uses yoga, movement and breath and a mindful moorland walk to provide respite from everyday pressures and expectations. It is a morning to take pleasure in being, rather than doing and enjoy a rest and reset.
How the Retreat Will Run
9:45 – 10:00 – Arrivals and Welcome
Introductions / What we hope to get out of the morning
10:00 – 10:45 – Gentle Yoga Flow – Using movement and breath to unwind
We start the day with a gentle yoga flow – connecting movement with breath. Moving in this was has a soothing meditative quality which eases physical tension and helps us activate our parasympathetic nervous system which helps us relax (often referred to as rest and digest mode).
10:45 – 11:15 – Break for a cuppa
A selection of teas will be provided with homemade treats made using natural ingredients.
11:15 – 12:15 – Walk on Penistone Hill
We will take in the stunning views of the wild moors. The natural world is a tonic for our physical and mental wellbeing. On this mindful walk we’ll enjoy, appreciate and truly notice our surroundings and the effect they have on us.
12:15 – 1:15 – Yin / Restorative Yoga and Guided Relaxation
This is our time to be still, to release deep rooted tensions from the body and allow the mind to be quiet.
Our yin yoga poses will focus on areas in the body where we habitually hold stress. This attention on the body provides a useful distraction from mental chatter and helps to bring a sense of calm.
1:15 – 2:15 – Lunch
A simple lunch of homemade soup and wheaten bread will be provided.
During this final part of the retreat, there is opportunity to discuss the morning, ask questions and have a chat.
