Trees are an integral part of the natural world and our well-being. As part of the Trees for Climate Action project, join fellow Bradford residents on a free short online 4-week course that will help you to connect with nature and improve your tree knowledge and skills.
The course is available for 18-30 year olds who live in Bradford.
The course content should take around 2-3 hours each week for 4 weeks.
No existing knowledge or experience is needed for this course, just a willingness to explore and learn.
By the end of the course, you will:
Understand how trees fit into the plant kingdom, the key differences between broadleaf and conifer trees, and the basic structure of a tree
Understand what shaped your local landscape to look the way it does today
Understand the basics of tree photosynthesis, life cycles, habitats, niches, and ecosystem services they provide, including mitigating climate change
Recognise by key characteristics some of the most common trees that can be found in your area
Be able to demonstrate understanding of the basic ecology of tree pests and diseases, as well as name some common tree pests and diseases that can be seen in your area
Understand how to begin pursuing related voluntary roles in your city, understand a little more on related career options
Know more about taking action for trees in your community
Share this knowledge with friends, family and fellow volunteers
