Arabic Astronomy by Martin Lunn – Festival of Ideas
Sunday, August 25, 2024
The classical period of Arabic astronomy lasted from around 600 CE to 1400 CE. It is not well known or celebrated, yet during this time cities in the Middle East became the centres of astronomical learning. The Arabs gave us the star names we use today plus lots of mathematical ideas including zero.
