Fashion on Screen: The Brontë Sisters

17 Oct 2025

10:30

The Brontë Parsonage Museum

Join historian Elinor Camille-Wood as she takes you on a journey through the fabulous fashions of the 1830s and 1840s. Discover what Charlotte, Emily and Anne would have worn and how their fashions have been portrayed on screen.

The talk will include getting hands on with some of the costumes worn in the BBC drama To Walk Invisible, alongside accessories worn by the sisters from the Brontë Parsonage Museum collection. Learn about how costumes are designed and made, and take a closer look at other notable costume dramas, such as Gentleman Jack and Bridgerton.

Elinor Camille-Wood is a curator and historian. She’s curated several fashion exhibitions across both Bankfield Museum and Shibden Hall in nearby Halifax, including the hugely popular Costumes from ‘Gentleman Jack’.
