British-Palestinian Voices: Selma Dabbagh and NS Nuseibeh

6 Jul 2024

13:00 - 14:00

University of Bradford

Join us for an enriching conversation between British-Palestinian writers, Selma Dabbagh and NS Nuseibeh, exploring how they navigate the intricate landscape of cultural heritage in their writing.

Novelist and playwright Dabbagh’s book, Out Of It, follows a Gazan family trying to forge paths for themselves in the midst of occupation. Nuseibeh’s collection of essays, Namesake, links our current ideas of Muslims and Arabs with their origins, exploring myth-making and identity, religion and nationhood, feminism and race.

Through their individual perspectives and stories, Dabbagh and Nuseibeh will shed light on the influences of their shared heritage and the challenges of forging a unique literary voice at the intersection of historical and contemporary challenges.

Don’t miss a captivating discussion on the complexities of identity and belonging, and how the power of narrative can shape our view of the world.
