The Big Brass Blowout, our weekend-long celebration of the best in brass, heads to the city centre for a Sunday-afternoon session showing off the versatility and variety of brass music – from red-hot West African music to mellow jazz.
The Toby Brazier Sextet blend classic jazz influences with new fusion sounds – led by a three-strong horn frontline featuring Nathan Pigott on tenor sax, trombonist Joe Fenning and bandleader Toby Brazier on trumpet, some of the best young jazz musicians in the region.
Omotola & Friends bring the pulsating Yoruba sound of West Africa to the heart of West Yorkshire – led by brilliant talking drummer Oluwatosin Omotola Ajayi the band will be joined here by special guests including Richard Walshaw on tuba and trumpeter Toby Brazier to create a musical melting pot that could only happen in Bradford.
Hot Aire! put a 21st-century spin on traditional brass band culture. Expect anything from brass-band classics to showtunes, movie soundtracks and even a Daft Punk medley when they make the trip from Shipley to Loading Bay for The Big Brass Blowout.
