Join Beehive Poets for the visit of Julia Deakin.
Julia Deakin was born in Nuneaton in 1956 and worked her way north to Yorkshire via Shropshire, the Potteries and Manchester. Widely published, each of her collections is praised by top UK poets. ‘Crafted, tender poems, written with passion and purpose,’ said Simon Armitage of her first; her fourth, 'Sleepless' (Valley Press 2019) is commended by Gillian Clarke. A birder, walker and ice-skater, she has featured twice on Poetry Please and won a few prizes – none of them for skating.
Julia will be supported by a reading from Rob Maslen. Rob is from Bradford and a long-time member of the Beehive poets. His pamphlet 'Much Needed Unrest' (Templar Poetry) was published in 2023.
We look forward to seeing you there!
