An evening of poetry with Alison Binney – The Opposite of Swedish Death Cleaning

29 May 2025

19:00 - 20:15

Wave of Nostalgia, Haworth

If Swedish death cleaning is the practice of decluttering one’s own life, this collection is its opposite. Here, items from a parental home jostle for position – chalk, spice jars, a Tupperware Party Susan – within and alongside poems that explore both intimacy and loss. It is rich with plants, trees and birds, as well as household objects, but what binds the poems together is a sense of human connection. The poems sing with the same tenderness, vitality and humour.

The award-winning author of Other Women’s Kitchens, Alison will read from their book, answer questions and sign copies.

The event is at 7PM on 29th May at Wave of Nostalgia, 74 Main Street Haworth BD22 8DP or on Zoom
