Bradford is the youngest city in Europe. 29% of our population is under 20. We are the 29%.
29% Festival is a free festival of live performance, music, dance, art and workshops, celebrating Bradford’s young people & young artists, held at Common Space (1-3 John Street, Bradford, BD1 3JT).
We have offered paid commissions for young Bradford artists to create new work across any artform to premier at the festival: including 20 young local musicians; 30 young theatre, spoken word and performance artists; 10 dancers, 5 visual artists and over 20 young facilitators, some who are emerging Bradford artists, some who are amongst Bradford’s more talented emerging artists and some who will be performing for the first time!
There will be workshops from Speakers Corner & youth groups from across the district including crafting, bhangra dance and Take Up Space workshops. There will be original productions from Common Wealth’s Performance Collective & Youth Theatre Lab, a daytimer and a programme of beautiful & chaotic public acts dreamt up by young people of all ages.
