Bradford’s Trapezium Gallery is pleased to present In The Shadow Of A Good Dream, a multi-media exhibition by Ato Ame.
The Exhibition invites you to immerse yourself in a collection of audiovisual artworks speculating absently on mental illness, liminal space and dream reality. It features works made using lino cut, collage, stencil, paint and a bunch of other techniques. This expansive selection of drawings and paintings is by Ato, Elias Ame, Hannah Swinfield, Maxwell Brook and Harry Miles, whom Ato calls “stalwart nodes in the local creative slime-mold”. There is also an interactive ‘comment book’ wall where visitors can draw, paste or paint their own artworks.
Planning for the exhibition started in early 2022 when Ato, a local musician, began work on a series of collages as album art, which morphed into an installation aimed to induce a kind of meditative dissociation using dense detail and eclectic ambient soundtracks. Eventually this snowballed into a bigger showcase of surreal art.
Dont miss the free three act concert featuring some of the best UK hardcore bands, part of the launch at the gallery on Saturday 7th September. The free event has unique performances from Glitchers, Ego and Sputum Donor. Doors open at 5.30pm.
