The Brontë Birthplace

Step back in time and immerse yourself in literary history by experiencing the Brontës' historic move from Thornton to Haworth!

What to Expect:

Dress in period costume – highly recommended!

Walk with the horses and cart in Thornton and/or Haworth.

Thornton:

10:00 AM – Participants will join the Brontë family as they set off by horse and cart from the Brontë Birthplace at 72-74 Market St, Thornton, BD13 3HF.

10:15 AM – A farewell event will take place at the Brontë Bell Chapel.

10:45 AM – The journey continues with horse and cart along Market St.

11:00 AM – Attendees can re-enact the Brontës' scenic journey on foot, walking to Haworth with Patrick and Maria Brontë or at their own pace. (See route map: OS, PDF, request GPX file for your walking app.)

Haworth:

3:00 PM – Participants will re-join the horse and cart at Haworth railway station and proceed via Main Street to the Brontë Parsonage at Church St, Haworth, BD22 8DR.

4:00 PM – A welcome event will be held at the Brontë Parsonage.

General Participation in the walk is free, but donations are much appreciated to support the Brontë Birthplace.
