Out on the wily, windy moors, we’re building an extraordinary open-air gallery inspired by the natural world.
Come and explore the Wild Uplands sculpture trail in the beautiful setting of Penistone Hill Country Park, Haworth, and with creative family workshops to summer solstice solace – there is something in the events programme for everyone to enjoy.
The Family Activity Maps will be available to download from the Bradford 2025 website and to pick up from any of our programme partner businesses in Haworth.
Want to know more? Our wonderful team of Wild Uplands Volunteers will be available to chat to at weekends from June to September – and while visiting Wild Uplands, why not check out Earth & Sky: a free audio experience developed by Bradford 2025 and Opera North.
The artists
Shanaz Gulzar, Creative Director of Bradford 2025 and the curator of Wild Uplands, has invited four leading artists – Monira Al Qadiri, Meherunnisa Asad with Studio Lél, Vanessa da Silva and Steve Messam – to create new artworks for Penistone Hill. Their artworks take inspiration both from this natural landscape and from our shared industrial heritage.
Getting there
There are a number of entrances to the country park. The entrances nearest the artworks are:

Off Moorside Road: what3words: ///toggle.grew.proofread
Getting around
The Wild Uplands artworks are located in different parts of the Penistone Hill Country Park. All can be viewed and found from the main footpaths. We encourage you to enjoy the epic Penistone Hill landscape at your leisure and make your own route around the park to find the artworks. We estimate it will take 40-60 mins to walk around all of them, not including Earth & Sky. Look out for the arrows on site to help guide you.
A Welcome Board featuring map locations and info about the artworks can be found at the two main entrances to Penistone Hill, the car park off Moorside Lane and Dimples Lane.
Wild Uplands Digital
In June discover Wild Uplands Digital: an online exhibition site where you can explore the artworks digitally. With in-depth interviews with the Wild Uplands and Earth & Sky artists and those who care for the Penistone Hill landscape, experience Wild Uplands from your own home. Check back this page at the end of June for updates.
Looking after the landscape
Please help us look after Penistone Hill. Stick to the footpaths and avoid disturbing or walking over the heather moorland. Please take any litter away with you.
