This House is Full of Stories

31 Oct 2024

The Brontë Parsonage Museum

Are you sitting comfortably...?

Join Storyteller-in-Residence Sophia Hatfield on Thursday 31 October as she performs live stories and songs inspired by the servants who lived and worked in the Parsonage.

Using a basket of everyday objects curated by designer Rachel Shore, Sophia will reveal the fabulous folk tales behind them. From cheeky boggarts to fierce witches and tiny toy soldiers, each original story is inspired by Yorkshire folklore, local history, and the incredible creative worlds crafted by the Brontë children.

This event is part of Bradford's Family Learning Festival! There are heaps of fun activities taking place across the district over half term - find out more here.

Date: Thursday 31 October, 11am - 4pm
Tickets: Free with entry to the Museum! You don’t need to book, simply visit the Servant’s Room on your way around to meet Sophia and hear a fabulous folk tale.Absolutely everyone is welcome during Sophia’s storytelling sessions. Please feel free to stand or sit to hear a story, ask a member of staff if you need any support, and don’t worry if you arrive halfway through – you can always stay for the next one if you want to!

The stories feature live music performed on the accordion and violin, with songs and lots of silly characters, all brought to life through Sophia’s inventive storytelling style.
