Outlines Festival – Chocolate Babies film screening

17 Jun 2025

19:00

Pictureville Cinema

Chocolate Babies unleashes a world of anarchic camp and unapologetic Black queer power.

An underground band of radical queer HIV+ activists, addicts, and drag artists take to the streets of New York City, using razor sharp dialogue, inspired interventions and fabulous surprise attacks to say enough is enough to conservative politicians and government apathy towards the AIDS crisis.

Originally released in 1996 to festival success, this should-be classic became a lost masterpiece, unseen by audiences for decades. Commissioned for restoration by Frameline film festival in time for its 25th anniversary, this beautiful 4K edition of Chocolate Babies was in partnership with the National Film Preservation Foundation, the UCLA Film & Television Archive and the Outfest Legacy Project.
