A guided tour focusing on the story behind one of Keighley’s most beloved buildings.
You’ll learn about the Butterfield family that owned the house, and turned it from a small villa to the eccentric Victorian castle it now is, and how it came to be the museum for Keighley. Learn some of the unlikely stories behind key exhibits, and how the building has changed over the years.
Find out the journeys behind some of our more well known items – and a remarkably well-travelled family…
12 (Mid-day) – 1pm
2pm – 3pm
We are running two tours, with space for up to 20 people per tour.
As there are limited spaces available, pre-booking is recommended to guarantee a space on the day.
On the day
The tour is taking place in the museum. Please park in the museum carpark (if full, there is on-street parking on Spring Gardens Lane), and then walk down the drive (it has rockery walls) from carpark to meet in the reception area of the museum.
Accessibility details
The site is over 2 floors, but as a listed building it does not have lift access to the 1st floor. However the guided tours will take place entirely on the ground floor and therefore will be accessible to those with limited mobility. We can provided folding stools to sit during the tour when paused in specific spaces.
