Discover the heritage craft of chair caning in this hands-on one day class.
With host, furniture restorer Julia Walton, you will learn the six-way weaving pattern most commonly used in caned chairs.
Julia will give a breif talk on the material being used, and the history of chair caning, then take the class through the six-way caning pattern.
At the end of the day you get to take your caned panel away with you along with a comprehensive booklet to help you carry out your new skill at home.
All materials are provided including a wooden practice frame and cane.
The workshop runs from 10am -4pm with a half hour break for lunch. Please note Bradford Industrial Museum does not have an onsite cafe so we advise you to bring a packed lunch.
