Creating Memorable Events

4 Oct 2024

10:00 - 17:00

The Society of Dyers and Colourists

Allow yourself the time and space to reflect on your events, explore new possibilities, and create unforgettable experiences for your audience.

Join us for a one-day workshop to breathe new life into your events with fresh ideas and an injection of creativity to make them unforgettable.

Our host and Bradford artist, Linda Hollingshead, has over 25 years of experience hosting courses, workshops and artist residentials and delivering award-winning arts and culture experiences across the UK and Europe.

Our Creating Memorable Events workshop will guide you through your event plans with fresh eyes and inspire you to identify the areas to refine and pinpoint the moments you can make a real impact.

About the workshop

The day will involve a combination of presentations, case studies, imagining and reflection sessions, group discussions and idea exploration to identify elements that make an event memorable and techniques to keep your audiences engaged and entertained.

Event Schedule

10.00 AM: Welcome with refreshments and introduction

10.30 AM: The Dream Experience
Presentation with case studies to inspire a visualisation activity to encourage you to think big and ambitiously about your events and imagine the dream experience you can give your audiences.

11.15 AM: Making an Entrance
A combination of journal reflections and group work to explore not just the logistical elements you can refine in your event plans, but the creative ideas you can introduce to make a mega first impression that will set the tone for the rest of your event.

12.30 PM: Lunch
A vegetarian lunch will be served

1.15 PM: Engaging Your Audiences
In this session, we’ll explore ways to weave your or your organisation’s personality into your events, elements you can add that make them unique to you, and use storytelling for connection and impact.

2.30 PM: What about You?
Events are hard work in both planning and delivery. In this session, we’ll reflect on ways we can weave self-care into the planning process and identify the moments you can include on delivery day to ensure you feel not just confident, calm and in control during your event, but to be present and enjoy it too.

3.00 PM: Tick all the Boxes
We’ll close the day by consulting a collaborative checklist that outlines the fundamental things you need to consider and have in place for a successful event, including the essentials that newcomers to event planning or those scaling up often overlook.

3.30 PM: Q&A and Closing Remarks

4.15 PM – 5 PM: Networking

This workshop is for artists, creatives and facilitators delivering events in the Bradford district. You must be actively planning events and able to come equipped with an event plan for an upcoming event, or an event that you delivered recently that you can reflect upon during the practical elements of the workshop. Both creative freelancers and those employed by organisations delivering arts and culture events are welcome to attend this workshop.

This workshop is suitable for people planning events at any scale – whether it’s a workshop for 6 people or a festival for 1000s of people! Arts and culture events of all kinds are relevant for this workshop and include, but are not limited to performance, theatre, music, dance, choirs, exhibitions, scratch nights, workshops and classes, festivals, conferences, tours and fairs.
