Due to popular demand – Bradford on Film returns to Pictureville!
On 16 October, come and enjoy a remarkable collection of archive films from the 20th century, preserved in the vaults of the Yorkshire Film Archive & North East Film Archive.
Whether you’re a born and bred Bradfordian, or a newcomer to this great city, this event is the perfect introduction to all things Bradford.
Packed full of curated content, this presenter-led screening will shine a spotlight on local filmmakers like Eric Hall and Fred Dewhirst, and reveal the film legacies of influential businessman and councillor Bob Sharp and professional film company CH Wood Ltd who both recorded the changing face of the district.
Highlights include a day out to Shipley Glen, Haworth and Saltaire, memories of Odsal, Kirkgate Market or the Blue Lace Nightclub and colourful local characters, including Mohamed Fazal Hussain, elder statesman and wannabe film mogul of Bradford’s Muslim community. There really is something for everyone.
